I have been trying to find a few features I have been looking for but can't find if it's available in JomTube

1. can the end user download the original clip ?

2. can the admin set the length for the flv video ? i.e the original clip is 160 seconds and the flv file is only 40 seconds.

the ability to download the videos has not been added yet... but it will be.

as this is a bit more on complicated side.. as I have looked at this.. it depends if the videos are local then it would be easy..

but if the videos are remote then each provider has different formats, they need to be circumvented as some give, flv, mp4, m4v, mov, etc.. so i got a idea on how want to handle this and do it..

and then i make it so ACL so who can download. even membership as i coded the ambra suscription so that you can see in the forums who got active subscription, expired, never subscribed, so i can see who does not have a legit version to an extension..

but will eventually make a private forum for all the active members to post all the SVN releases and block all Support Tickets will be for active members only.. but first now i try to get the 1.1.1 release out for testing today..

the second part is possible using javascript interaction.. but there would have to be some options added to the VIDEO INFO PAGE allowing you to select the start point.. This would be for local videos only..

the remote videos forget about it.. every provider different i just do not know if its possible in my head. the other stuff i know it can be done because i done it.

Sorry forgot to mention all the videos will be local. As for the second question i.e. flv file is limited to first 40 seconds .... why use javascript ??? ffmpeg's -t option can do the work .... unless custom ffmpeg commands are not allowed in JomTube component.
